Born in 1903, Willie King Martin was Myra’s first child, and one of the first of Isaac’s grandchildren.  She contracted the Flu in 1918 during the devastating epidemic that year and died.  She was the last grandchild buried with Isaac since the others raised families and moved away.

Ann-Patterson-Stone-small1

Isaac King’s wife, Eliza “Ann “ Patterson, was the step daughter of the farmer next door, Lewis G. Smith.  When Isaac was too sick to teach, she took his place.  She was born in 1860, but her father died in the  Civic War.  Ann was known as Mother Dear, and lived until 1929.

Ruth-Martin-Stone-sm

Ruth Martin, daughter of Myra and Walter Martin, was the first of Isaac King’s grandchildren to be buried with him.  She was born in 1905, a few weeks before Isaac died, but she died in 1908.  Ruth was followed by her cousin, Henry Vernon Williams, who died in 1914, but a close up of his grave is not shown.

Walter-A-&-Myra-Martin-smal

Because the oldest daughter Cora and her husband were moved to the Alt Vista Cemetery in Gainesville, Myra Ellen King is the oldest of Isaac’s daughters buried here.  She was born on Timber Ridge in 1882 and died in Decatur, Georgia, in 1969.  Her husband Walter Alexander Martin died in Atlanta in 1944.

Henry-&-Clyder-Williams-sma

Clyde was the youngest of the three sisters, born in 1884, and the first to pass away, in 1950.  Her husband Henry was a descendent of the same Kendrick line that married Noah Martin and David Martin, making all three husbands related by marriage outside of the King family.
