Transferred to Company E, 3rd Battalion Georgia Sharpshooters June 8, 1863. Captured at Spotsylvania, Virginia, May 22, 1864. Paroled at Point Lookout, Maryland, and transferred to Aiken's Landing, Virginia, March 14, 1865. Received at Boulware & Cox's Wharves, James River, Virginia, May 16, 1865. No later record.

Little, G. W. -- Private - June 28, 1862. Wounded in leg, necessitating amputation, at Wilderness, Virginia, May 6, 1864. On wounded furlough at the close of war.

Little, Henry L. -- 4th Corporal - August 24, 1861. Captured at Sailor's Creek, Virginia, April 6, 1865. Released at Point Lookout, Maryland, June 29, 1865.

Little, James O. -- Appointed 3rd Sergeant of Company H, 10th Regiment Georgia State Troops October 21, 1861. Mustered out May 1862. Enlisted as a private in Company I, 24th Regiment Georgia Infantry June 28, 1862. Captured at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, July 2, 1863. Died of chronic diarrhea at Fort Delaware, Delaware, July 17, 1864.

Little, L. J. -- Private - June 28, 1862. Wounded in eye, resulting in loss of sight, at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania July 3, 1863. Captured at Cedar Creek, Virginia October 19, 1864. Paroled at Point Lookout, Maryland for exchange February 10, 1865. Received at Boulware & Cox's Wharves, James River, Virginia, February 15, 1865. No later record.

Little, William T. -- 3rd Corporal - August 24, 1861. Elected 2nd Lieutenant July 1, 1862; 1st Lieutenant March 25, 1864. Appears without remark as to presence or absence on roll dated August 31, 1864. No later record.

Loggins, Anderson -- Private - August 24, 1861. Captured at Sharpsburg, Maryland, October 1, 1862. Sent from Fort McHenry, Maryland, to Fortress Monroe, Virginia, for exchange October 18, 1862. No later record.

Lowry, Samuel B. -- Private - August 24, 1861. Furloughed for 40 days on account of sickness January 6, 1862. Transferred to Company E, 3rd Battalion Georgia Sharpshooters June 8, 1963. Wounded and captured at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, July 3, 1863. Leg amputated in 1863. Paroled August 1864. At home, wounded, close of war.

Martin, Noah -- Private - February 28, 1862. Wounded at Fredericksburg, Virginia, December 13, 1862. Retired to Invalid Corps July 10, 1864. Roll dated January 30, 1865, last on file, shows him ordered to Athens, Georgia, for light duty. No later record. (Resident of Georgia since April 18, 1840.)

Martin, R. [Robert] J. -- Private - February 28, 1862. Died at Camp Winder, Richmond, Virginia May 11, 1862. Buried there in Hollywood Cemetery.

Mathews, David (or Matthews) -- Private - August 24, 1861. Died of disease April 11, 1862.

Miller, E. P. -- Private - February 28, 1862. Killed at Deep Bottom, Virginia, August 16, 1864.

Pool, Andrew L. -- 1st Lieutenant - August 1, 1861. Elected Captain March 25, 1864. Roll dated January 30, 1865, last on file, shows him absent without leave. No later record.  The “Roster of Confederate Soldiers of Georgia 1861-1865” states he was mustered out on 30 Jan 1865.

Pool, John B. -- 1st Sergeant - August 24, 1861. Elected 2nd Lieutenant May 6, 1864. Wounded between the eyes at Sharpsburg, Virginia, May 12, 1864. Captured at Deep Bottom, Virginia August 16, 1864. Released at Fort Delaware, Delaware, June 17, 1865. (Born in Georgia June 18, 1834.)

Pool, William H. H. (or Poole) -- Private - August 24, 1861. Wounded in left hip at Fredericksburg, Virginia, December 13, 1862. Appointed 3rd Sergeant in 1863.  Pension records show he was furloughed December 1864, but the roll dated January 30, 1865, last on file, shows him absent without leave.  Elected 1st Lieutenant of Pool's Battalion Georgia State Troops and surrendered at Gainesville, Georgia, in 1865. (Born in Georgia August 10, 1840.)

By the end of the war, Richmond was in ruins.

Vets-Appomattox

At least eight soldiers who mustered into company I during the summer of 1861 were there near the Appomattox courthouse the day General Lee surrendered the Army of Virginia to General Grant and the Union Army.
